Love love love this cozy, reasonably priced beach restaurant at the foot of the gorgeous beachfront hotel Shutters! The food is excellent. The drinks are well made and delicious, and the ambience of the patio indoors and outdoors, as well as a dining room and friendly bar make this the perfect spot for whatever occasion you are celebrating or if you just feel like going down to the beach for a quick burger and a drink. I also love that they let me bring my mini goldendoodle Sophie, who is so well behaved and just enjoys people watching and having dinner with me. And the view of the beach and Santa Monica pier is outstanding! Denson Debbi Aldahl

I thought we'd have breakfast here, but my friend was late so we decided to have lunch here instead after we did our 8000 some steps around the beach. This place had two names, "Shutters on the Beach" and "Coast Beach Café" I wasn't sure which name to put the review under until the bill came. Lol. My friend wanted to share a chicken sandwich and I wasn't sure what I had wanted since breakfast was out of the question. I said a Caesar salad and my friend said with shrimps, so we decided on both to share as we both didn't want to eat too much. The portions were perfect to share, but I couldn't finish my lunch and the chef had divided the plates in half portions so that we didn't have to fight for the fries as our server, Cody S. had said. Our bill was about 80 some dollars including chocolate cake dessert, which was decadent and we had few bites before packing it to go. Everything was good and delicious, but I minused one star because I thought the sandwich was a bit dry for my taste imo and this is one of the most popular sandwich choice, but I loved the avocado slices inside with fresh lettuce, tomato slice and bacon. My friend loved hers and finished everything on her plate. The ambiance and service were all excellent, as well. It was refreshing and comfortable like we were at a beach house lounging around feel. It was open and brightly lit by the sun's ray. We'd definitely come back to try out other dishes on their menu, maybe make it earlier for breakfast next time. Thank you Cody and Coast Beach Café team for your excellent service and dining experience!!

After a sweltering few days with temperatures soaring over 100 degrees, it was a relief to enjoy a pleasant day at the beach, with the weather cooling down into the 80s. Before heading to the airport to pick up a friend, we decided to stop by Coast Beach Café and Bar for brunch--and it was the perfect choice. The waiter was incredibly accommodating, allowing us to order breakfast even though it was close to lunchtime. We opted for their famous ricotta pancakes and the crab eggs Benedict, and both dishes were simply amazing. The crab was generous, made with heavenly lumps of fresh meat that melted in your mouth, complementing the perfectly poached eggs. With the breathtaking beach view and the soothing sound of the waves in the background, it felt like a little slice of heaven. There's something special about enjoying a delicious meal in such a peaceful setting, and it was the perfect way to recharge. We left feeling happy, relaxed, and already planning our next visit!

Spectacular location and vibe (priced to match) service is very good and the food is tasty. We tried the avocado toast, Chilean sea bass, Cobb salad with salmon and the lobster roll.

I got the fish and chips and a beer. The fish did taste a little fishy. Not as fresh as I would hope for a restaurant of this caliber. Just a little underwhelming. The service was excellent. And it's a beautiful place for a casual first date.

Almost decided to give this place 5 stars because of the vibes and the beautiful weather, but unfortunately it had to come down a bit to a 4. The only complaint I had about the food was the lobster roll was a bit dry and they salad wasn't satisfying and barely had any dressing, was pretty much just leaves. The spritz are great and the umami sea bass was soooo good. Highly recommend even though it wasn't look too appealing. Service was good as well, everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. If you're looking for an ocean front restaurant where there isn't too much going on other than the musician nearby trying to make some cash, and you just want to enjoy the sunshine and sound of the ocean, this is a safe spot.

The 3-6 PM happy hour is where it's at! Glasses of wine and beer are half off plus $12 select cocktails and some heavily discounted bites. There are a few tvs and great ocean views from the bar. We wanted somewhere to watch the superbowl without crazy crowds and this checked off all of the boxes. The eats were all stellar. Burrata ( $12 on happy hour) was so delicious and came with salami and honey cooked pears. We also enjoyed the calamari, margherita pizza and chips with pico and guac. All bites under $12 - a steal! Service was on point and the bartenders were all so friendly and made good drinks. The Shutters hotel is swanky and in a great location. Whether you are a guest at the hotel or just looking for a great happy hour this is a solid spot. 11/10 recommend.

Located bang on the Santa Monica beach in Shutters by the Beach hotel, this restaurant has amazing views, great service and excellent food and beverages. We went for brunch on a Saturday. Party of 5 and we had an amazing time. They don't take reservations for brunch so it's first come, first served. We had no trouble getting a table. Everything we had was well prepared and presented. I had the lobster roll which was fresh and delicious. The others had the catch of the day, the Wagyu burger, Flat bread and French toast. We also got a Margherita flat bread, Burratta salad and Caesar salad to share. All great. For dessert we shared a butterscotch pudding and and ice cream Sundae. We would love to go back there soon.
